"A hunt is not purely about killing one's prey. It is about the patience to track, the stamina to keep up and the wisdom to acknowledge the quarry's worth."

Growing up in the warm, forested region in Bozja, previously under the influence of the Garlemand, Jalkar dedicated his life purely to the idea of survival for his clan. In his tribe, ruled by the Queen, he learned the philosophy of clan structure near the Citadel, even lining himself to be trained in the art of a gunbreaker. However, he was never chosen for that role, and instead took up the discipline of using a lance. For the most part of his life, he became proficient with the weapon, so much so that he was recognized with his skill and tasked with helping to guard trade routes between his and other Queens' clans. Jalkar could not see anything but prosperity for the foreseeable future.

Yet, even that moment was to be shattered during a conflict with several the Allagan empire, where skirmishes throughout the jungles of Bozja took place. Through the use of tactical guerrilla warfare, the Hrothgar of his tribe were initially victorious. This would be fleeting though as an infantry managed to break through the border, overrunning the gunbreakers set to defend the Queen, and slaying her.
As the seat of power had now been dismantled, Jalkar was unsure of what to do. He and a few of his clans-mates traveled west towards the southern Ilsabard, eventually making their way towards the northern, cold mountains. During this time, Jalkar learned more about hunting, starting to find great pleasure in tracking larger and more dangerous game.

Through a variety of unfortunate circumstances, the majority of the pack he was traveling died off. Jalkar eventually broke contact with them, deciding to head south towards Aldenard, making his way through Ishgard as he made his way to warmer climates. After speaking with others, he caught wind that there may be opportunity for work and recognition within one of the three Grand Companies. Hoisting his lance, he strode forth towards Gridania, heading for an uncertain future for a clan that he had lost all that time ago.
